Alabama holiday visit Pt I

We went to Alabama to spend Christmas with Beth's brother Mark and his family. Mark is a helicopter flight instructor, and he took us to see the U.S. Army Aviation Museum at Ft. Rucker. The museum has some really nice displays and the various dioramas added a nice touch to the hardware.

Fun with pets

Dogs and cats living in harmony!
Tigger lounges around waiting for dinner

Indigo is such a diva. She loves makeup!
Sultry kitty
Shelby on the other hand, thinks dressing up is torture.
What did I do to you?

Self portraits

Photographers all seem to have this thing with self-portraits... Even the animated ones!
If you haven't seen it yet, "What The Duck" is a hilarious (at least to photographers!) comic strip that hits home on a lot of issues we deal with in this profession.

Photo shoot with Tim

Ben Van Hook came up to photograph Tim for Golf World and I was asked to help Ben find a location and shuttle Tim to the shoot. While ben and his crew set up, I took advantage of the early morning light at #17

Ben shoots the spread photo.
I stood in for the first Polaroids

Then on to the cover portraits.
More Polaroids... maybe I should use one for my TOUR credential!

Palm Springs Air Museum

I had to head to CA one more time this year to gather player headshots at Q-School finals. As I arrived at Palm Springs airport, I saw the signs for the air museum. I had some time to kill so I stopped in . Great collection of vintage aircraft, most of which still fly!
The weather was great and a couple of guys decided to take their P-51 Mustangs for a spin... I'd rather have spent my morning in one of this instead of the commuter jet I arrived in!

Joshua Tree National Park

I have been to the Palm Springs area a few times and have never taken the time to really explore the desert. Joshua Tree park straddles the Mojave and Sonora deserts and is a breathtaking collection of high-desert scenery. Of course, the day I went, it was about 50 degrees and the wind was blowing about 40-50 MPH! I had a jacket, but no gloves or hat. Man it was cold!

This is a Joshua tree... Not real pretty.

Several Joshua trees

Pretty desolate, but very pretty.

Cactus garden... watch your step!

Stone arch

Lotsa cool rock formations to climb around on.

Just don't knock the big ones loose!

Old gold mining ruins
And their vehicles...

Nice view.

Another old ruin.

Thanksgiving tradition

We stopped in to Pete's bar for the traditional Thanksgiving "Bloody Mary Party". Throw the turkey in the oven and head to Pete's for a drink with a few thousand of your closest friends!
